How We Used the Product in our Homeschool

We replaced our current paper math curriculum with CTC Math’s online curriculum for the past six weeks. My son is doing basic math, so we went ahead and started him in the first grade program. For our daughter (who is just beginning 4th grade), we went back and utilized the diagnostic tests in the 3rd grade curriculum to determine mastery and identify any gaps she may have. Once she hit a topic where she didn’t score proficiently, we started there with review. 

Each of the kids spent 10-20 minutes a day doing a lesson. They would watch the video and then answer the questions. 

What I Loved

There isn’t an easier way to teach math than CTC Math’s online program! The website and interface were easy to navigate, and it worked well on all our devices (iPad, smart phones, and Macbook). The kids each had their own log-in pages. The videos were quick and simple to understand. The questions were clear and easy to navigate through, and they were adaptive to meet the kids where they were struggling. 

I also love, love, loved the weekly reports that were emailed directly to me. I was able to print them and slip them into their portfolios of work to maintain compliance with our state records requirements. The reports showed exactly what the kids did in the program, including the times, names of the lessons, and their scores. Plus, it was color-coded so I could easily glance and see if they were proficient.

Additionally, I appreciated that in the parent dashboard, I was able to assign specific tasks, including whether they needed to be profient or simply answer the questions, and when they were due by. You can even generate specific question banks by selecting which lessons you want questions from, and choosing the level of difficulty for those questions. 

It includes everything you could want…and more!

Final Thoughts

This is an incredible online math program. I’ll be honest. I hadn’t planned to use an online program, as I enjoy the curriculum we’d been using. However, after trying CTC Math’s 12 Month Family Membership out for myself, I now see what all the hype is about. It’s truly an excellent program. The only critique I have would be that you had to press “submit” and then “next” after each question. I get why you do it (so you can see the errors and correct answers), but it slows everything down just a bit. 

Otherwise, I loved everything about the program. Even better, they offer a 12-month money-back guarantee–no questions asked! You really can’t lose!

I highly recommend this program. Whether you’re good at math or dread it…whether you have 1 kid or 10…you’re sure to love the quality and simplicity of this program. Plus, you can pay monthly or yearly. It’s an especially good deal if you have multiple kids whose curriculum you’d normally have to buy and manage.
