Questions for Reflection

What I Loved:

This is a simple but powerful manual for building a firm foundation of faith for our children. It’s easy to read and filled with relevant stats and information, powerful prayers, and practical wisdom and advice.

In Chapter 11, Lee Ann shares 20 essential virtues to teach our kids. I love that she explains each virtue, lists applicable Bible references, highlights key Bible stories, and verses for each one.

In Chapter 12, she explains the fruit of the Spirit and simple ways to teach them to your children.

And Chapter 13 is probably my favorite – because you know how much I LOVE fun, interactive discipleship tools! This chapter is loaded with ideas for bringing Biblical concepts to life in fun, meaningful, and memorable ways.

The questions for reflection are great for invididual or group study, and there’s even a Bible Index at the back of the book for quick reference.

 Other Thoughts:

In the virtues chapter, you’ll find the author shared ideas for making the lessons on virtues more concrete through the use of stones. She provides scriptures and explanations for how you can utilize them as an object lesson if you’d like. She refers to them as “virtue stones,” and notes for you to “make sure to explain that the stones do not have magical powers; they are only symbols to help us remember good virtues.”

While the author provides a scriptural basis of the significance of stones throughout the Bible, you may or may not feel comfortable utilizing this activity to teach virtues. If you feel uncomfortable with the idea, just skip it. She offers lots of other fun ideas at the back of the book for ways to engage kids of all ages in fun and interactive discipleship activities.

Final Notes:

This is a great tool for parents with kids of any age (or for anyone who works with kids or desires to become a parent someday). It’s practical and engaging.
