As we launch into this holiday season, I am sitting at home staring out at the grey skies and reflecting on life and love. My heart is heavy and happy all at the same time. I realize some of you reading this today are excitedly anticipating the holidays. I also recognize that others of you are experiencing great sadness, grief, loneliness, worry or other heavy burdens.
Holidays bring great joy and unbearable despair. I want to encourage you that no matter your season in life, whether you are looking forward to or dreading this holiday season, God is with you. His promises to you are immeasurable and He wants to walk through this season with you and provide you with all that you need.
O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. – Psalm 95:1-2 NASB
Multiple times throughout the Bible thanksgiving is referred to as a sacrifice to the Lord. I believe this is because it can be difficult to offer up thanksgiving in the midst of our storms, but God honors this sacrifice. So today, whatever you are facing, lift your voice in thanksgiving to the Lord and shout joyfully to Him. He truly is worthy to be praised.
Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing. – Psalm 107:22 NASB
No matter your circumstances, we all have so much to be thankful for. Take time to reflect on the goodness of God; His everlasting mercy and unending grace. Praise His Name and thank Him for all He has done, is doing, and will ever do. Most importantly, do not allow the burdens of today rob you of the blessings of tomorrow. Fix your eyes on Jesus and continue moving forward. The storms of life will pass and as with any thunderstorm, His promises will illuminate the sky like rainbows.
Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. -Psalm 30:4-5 NASB
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. – Philippians 4:6 NASB
Wishing you a very blessed Holiday Season from my family to yours! I’d love to hear what you are thankful for this season. Leave a comment below!
