How We Used the Product in our Homeschool
We utilized Lies Girls Believe for our daily read aloud time together. I read a chapter of the book aloud to my nine-year-old daughter 3-5 times each week over the course of several weeks. We would discuss the concepts, pray the prayers together, and she would fill in the various journaling activities.
Each morning before we had our time together (or sometimes late at night after the kids were in bed), I would read the next chapter in A Mom’s Guide to the Lies Girls Believe to prepare for our time together. This gave me the chance to jot down my notes in the provided pages and write out my prayers for my daughter before we dove into the topic together.
What I Loved
This book is beautifully done and well-written. It is colorful and engaging. Each chapter is written in a way that’s relatable and relevant for young girls. There are pictures and real-life stories with scenarios to process through together.
It’s also interactive. The authors guide your daughter through highlighting certain parts of verses with different colors, and there are spaces to journal and answer questions throughout. It’s created for deep thinking and discussion.
A Mom’s Guide to Lies Girls Believe is practical and complements Lies Girls Believe perfectly. It’s created to personalize the journey for you and your daughter, with space for your notes and to write out individualized prayers for your daughter. It also provides simple conversation tips and helpful suggestions. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I appreciated the information provided to help parents better understand the mental and emotional affects of lies and the tools to help parents address them effectively.
Final Thoughts
This is a book every girl and her mom need to read. It provides you with the tools to have difficult conversations in non-threatening ways, and will help you strengthen your relationship with your daughter while filling her with God’s Truth and practical tools for everyday life. I highly recommend it!
